Fall Fun Fest Oct. 4

Join us for Damascus Elementary School’s Fall Fun Fest! Pumpkins, hayrides, and animals too, the only thing we’re missing is you! Sponsored by the DES PTA.

Thursday, October 4th, 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
*school is a half day the next day

$8 per person (children 2 and under are free)
PTA will be selling tickets at the door. Includes hayride and corn maze!

Other attractions: Petting farm, barrel train, obstacle course, corn box with slide, and so much more!

No time for dinner? Hot dogs, drinks, and other snacks will be available for purchase.

DES has rented the entire farm for the evening so feel free to invite your friends and family. All of the proceeds go back to the PTA to benefit our students.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight and a camera.

Read to a Dog!

Who: School-age children, especially beginners learning to read, English-learners, readers with special needs, and all those who just want to improve their confidence in reading skills.

What: Practice reading aloud in 10-15 minute semi-private sessions with rescued greyhound Luna, a calm and patient certified therapy dog.

Why: Improve reading skills, gain confidence, and discover that reading is fun!

When: Wednesdays from 4:30-5:20 p.m., September 12-December 19, 2018.*

(*Luna will not be available on 10/3; 10/10; 10/31; 11/21)

Where: Damascus Library, 9701 Main Street, Damascus MD, 20872.

Please support the DES PTA with a purchase of DES Spirit Wear.

The DES Spirit Wear Store lets you choose your favorite DES design and which T-shirt, sweatshirt, or tank-top style you want and there are a variety of color options too!

Every DES design is available in children’s, women’s and men’s styles. Pictures shown in the online store are just for reference. Once you click on a design in the store, the design page will open and you can view the front and back of the design. Then on the right side of the screen are style and color options.

Orders are shipped directly to your home. Thank you for supporting our school!

Parents Helping Teachers, Friday, Sept. 28

Parents Helping Teachers meets two Fridays of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to help teachers prepare classroom materials. Our tasks often include cutting, copying, laminating, and making materials that teachers need for their daily lessons. No experience is necessary; we will teach you anything that you need to know. Just join us in the main office at school.
